Hello friends! This summer seems to be flying by and it has been pretty productive in the grand scheme of things! I’ve been taking a class this summer in my graduate program on Mass Communication Theory and I’ve made some pretty good headway on organizing the ridiculous amount of teaching materials and activities that I’ve acquired just in my first two years of teaching.
(There may or may not have been numerous trips to Goodwill to unload some of the madness)
I thought it would be fun to kind of take you all with me through my day, so here’s a look at my Tuesday (and try not to die of boredom)!
8:15am // Rise and Shine
While I’m not always the best at listening to my alarm (oh hey there, snooze button), I have done pretty well with not sleeping in that much this summer. Even if I wake up at 8:00 but don’t make it out of bed until 9:00 (which happens often), I will usually spend that time reading or checking up on things on my phone.

Today though, I had planned on getting up earlier than I did, but I still made myself a cup of coffee (good dose of milk, 2-ish sugars, and a splash of sugar-free vanilla syrup) and read a little bit in my newest read, Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon. It is the second installment in the bestselling Outlander series and I am totally smitten (with the book and the TV series)! It’s been quite torturous to fall in love with the show when I don’t even have the Starz channel at home. First world problems, let me tell you. The second season is based off Dragonfly in Amber and won’t even premiere until sometime in 2016 and I’m already stressing about how I’m going to watch the episodes without having Starz.
10:30am // Let’s Do Something About This Face, Shall We?
Time to get ready! My hair and makeup routine rarely takes longer than 15-20 minutes, and that’s if I’m actually trying to look nice for something. This summer, we’ve had one of the hottest summer on record (I think it’s actually in the top 5 in the history books already), so I haven’t been wearing too much since it just get sweated off. Tinted moisturizer, light concealer, and a light eyeshadow shade and call it a day. A very hot day.
Lately, I’ve been loving this BB cushion cream from Laneige, which is now available at Target. I had seen some good things about it and in my opinion the $34 price tag was justified when I realized that you also get a refill pack of BB cream and a sample of their Water Sleeping Mask. The cream is very light and gives a good even skin tone, but it does have SPF 50 so if you’re wanting a matte finish, this may not be for you. But for me, this has been perfect this summer.

11:30am // Lunch with Friends
My mom and I met up with our friend Suzanne for lunch at an awesome Mexican restaurant in Charlotte. This woman is a jack of all trades and is always a blast to hang out with. She’s been a caterer, baker, performer, and is a skilled gardener, quilt maker, and homemade pickle maker.
1:15pm // Goodwill Stop
We made a quick stop at Goodwill on the way home! I usually go straight for the books and then I’m done, but there were no books that stuck out to me today.
3:00pm // Errands, Errands, Errands
For my errands today, I first stopped by Michael’s to pick up a picture frame that was on sale for $5, actually less than that with my 20% off teacher discount. I love their Belmont frames and the light wooden look matches the decor in my room perfectly. Then, I headed off to Autobell for a much-needed car wash and a quick trip to Hobby Lobby. I picked up yet another Project Life album and this adorable mason jar soap dispenser. I actually already have one but the pump has been messing up lately and I loved that Hobby Lobby had one that had the blue tint. And finally, because I am a Target addict, I stopped into Target to pick up something for my mom and grabbed a box of Starbucks’ Vanilla Iced Coffee K-cups to try out.
6:30pm // You Better Work
I’m so going to miss the flexibility of being able to work on my grad school stuff (most of the time) at my leisure. When the new school year begins, I will be on a much stricter work schedule between lesson planning and my assignments, but I’m soaking in these last two weeks of the summer semester.
After working on assignments for a bit, I did a bit of cleaning and dove back into Dragonfly in Amber before eventually heading off to bed. I hope I didn’t bore you too much with my day!
