If you’re one of the many individuals that has resolved to create some healthier habits and routines this year (myself included!) then this post will hopefully give you a boost. Whether I’m doing work around the house or working up a sweat, I have to have music with me that fits my mood and/or pace.
Funny story: I used to be in marching band back in my high school days and I grew very accustomed to marching to the beat of music, the beat of a drum, etc. It’s a trait that has stuck with me and I catch myself walking in time to music constantly, whether it’s in a store or on my iPod as I walk. So because of this, my music has to match whatever task I’m doing. Casually walking? Sure, that mellow OneRepublic song would work great. Brisk walking or jogging? It’s got to be something upbeat (Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore is a great example).
Now, usually I would stick with uptempo pop and hip-hop tunes on the rare occasion that I am able to get out and go for a walk (and if I’m feeling ambitious…a jog), but recently I was turned on to the idea of listening to worship music while working out. (Betsy @ Heavens to Betsy has some great songs on her playlist here!)
Gold by Imagine Dragons is a newer release that I’ve found to be an awesome walking/jogging song and Captured by The Digital Age would not get out of my head after hearing it at church last week. I’ve created two playlists for you below; one that is most pop/hip-hop tunes and one that has some fantastic uptempo worship songs. You can also listen to the playlists online here and here!
