Today is my “big” sister’s 28th birthday! I use quotations because I am probably a good two-three inches taller than my sister, despite being nearly four years younger.
I also like to steal her popsicles while chilling on our retro couch. Hooray for the 90s.
She loves me! See!
Let the record show who was the attention-getter of our childhood.
My sister and I often get asked if we are twins, which completely confounds us. I mean, we get that we look similar…we share the same parents after all, but twins? Don’t see it. Although, apparently I looked so identical to my sister as a newborn that the first thing my mom said when she saw me was, “She looks just like Sarah!”. So there’s that. Score one for the sibling comparisons starting less than five minutes after entering the world. Kidding. Mostly.
She also shares a birthday with Prince George, so she’s practically royal(ish).
My sister and I also have nearly identical tastes in music and shared love of traveling. Making her the best concert buddy and travel companion. That one time we drove from San Diego to Los Angeles together and detoured from our GPS just slightly so that we could pick up In & Out Burger and take it to Laguna Beach’s Heisler Park for a oceanfront dinner at sunset? Perfection.
Sorry Santa Monica, Laguna Beach ousted you as our favorite California beach.
Sisters, to me, are God’s way of blessing you with a built-in best friend for life, no matter how many squabbles you may find yourself in during your childhood. He also blessed me with one of the best. I may be the giant one, but it’s me that looks up to her.
Happy Birthday, sister friend!
