Please tell me that all of my calendars are wrong and that tomorrow is not the first day of August already?! For all of my teacher friends that means that back to school is just around the corner which may be both exciting and anxiety-inducing for some. Jury’s still out on how I feel about it, personally. Here’s what I’m up to currently.
Reading // Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon. If you read my Day in the Life post then you know that I am all about some Outlander right now. I am about halfway through the second book in the series and it’s such an interesting world to be immersed in! There’s so much history interwoven into the books that I find myself googling many of the (real) characters to get more of the backstory. It’s been quite a few years since I took AP European History, after all!
Anticipating // Austin, Texas! Early next Wednesday morning I take off for Texas! And how are they going to welcome me? With temperatures at least 100 or above the entire trip. Thanks guys, really. You shouldn’t have. I’m still very much looking forward to the trip and the opportunity to explore a new city. I may even have the chance to meet up with one of my dear friends, who lives in the Dallas area, in Waco (the halfway point).
Drinking // Coffee. I’m still not much of a coffee drinker in that caffeine doesn’t really affect me and I don’t feel like I have to have it every morning, but I have been enjoying a morning cup more often lately! My go-to flavoring is a splash of Torani’s Vanilla syrup, 1-2 sugars (more like 2), and a good splash of milk or cream but I also like Coffee Mate’s Natural Bliss line of creamers (especially the Sweet Cream flavor).
Listening // Oh man, if there was ever an actual diagnosis of Musical ADD, I would be the prime candidate. I’m always listening to something different, but lately Kodaline has been making more and more appearances in the rotation. They’re an Irish band, for those unfamiliar, but my sister and I are finally going to see them live in September when they come to Carrboro! I’ve also been listening to some of Dragonfly in Amber on Audible since Amazon had a really good price for the audiobook when I purchased the ebook. I’m also listening to Bryan Loritts’ sermon on Patience that he gave a couple weekends ago at The Summit Church in Raleigh. Good stuff there, my friends.
P.S I love that I can catch up on sermons both from my church here in Charlotte and from Summit with their mobile apps. So handy!
Feeling // All of the feelings. A little bit of nerves about Austin. A lot of nerves about the upcoming school year, knowing that I will not have the guidance and peaceful presence of one of my two teacher assistants (she has been with me since I began teaching two years ago). Excitement over back to school because, you know, school supplies. Praying for the students I will be given this year. Sadness over the end of summer because, you know, I like sleep.
