It’s my birthday!
Yes, my birthday does fall on Mother’s Day…it happens every five years or so! What better way to celebrate my birth than to do it on the day that celebrates the woman who brought me into this world! I will be spending my afternoon surrounded by family as my mom’s family hosts a big Mother’s Day cookout every year but I wanted to do a fun birthday post for you guys.
So, since today is my first day as a 24 year old, I thought I’d share some of the highlights from my 23rd year!
I got to see Andy Grammer and OneRepublic live in the past year and both were absolutely amazing! It was the second time that I had seen OneRepublic and holy moley they are probably my favorite band to see in concert.
I went to Asheville with my two best friends from college! Asheville is one of my favorite cities and it is full of unique people with awesome shops and restaurants!
Then, in August I took a trip to Los Angeles that was truly life-changing. I went by myself and though this wasn’t the first time I’d been to LA solo, it was the first time that I truly navigated the city without any assistance. Like, I rented a car and braved the infamous LA traffic and lived to tell the tale, and everything. This trip’s purpose was to attend the press junket for The Giver and I got to interview the film’s stars including author, Lois Lowry. This trip was definitely one of those post-grad moments where you really start to feel like a real adult.

I was in a wedding!
Last June, I got to stand up with my sweet suitemate from college, Lauren, as she got married!

My cousin got married!
In September, my cousin John married his longtime girlfriend Kimmy so we drove up to the Virginia coast, Hampton to be exact. It had been years since we had gone up to the Hampton area where two of my mom’s sisters live. It’s such a pretty area and both of my aunts live on the water. John is only 10 months older than I am and the other four of us who are pretty close in age all used to hang out all the time at family gatherings growing up. There are 14 of us total but the younger five include me, John, my sister, John’s sister Jessica, and our other cousin Matthew. We’re all within four years of each other so it was so nice to have everyone together!
