I’m pretty new to the Lush Cosmetics “craze” but after seeing so many beauty vloggers rave about them and hearing from random acquaintances, I decided to check them out for myself. Lush Cosmetics specializes in fresh, handmade, and environmentally friendly products. They also do not do any testing on animals, so that’s awesome.
A few weeks ago when I was in Raleigh visiting my sister, I ventured out to their Lush store for the first time. There’s only two Lush stores in North Carolina and the Raleigh one is fairly close to my sister’s place while the Charlotte location is closer to me, albeit just a tad out of the way. Anyway, I picked up Roots, a hair and scalp treatment. My biggest problem area is my scalp. It’s itchy, flaky, and so frustrating to deal with. I haven’t taken the plunge and gone to see a dermatologist yet, but I wanted to try the organic and all-natural route first.
When I picked up Roots, I also received a sample of their Rehab shampoo, which I enjoyed enough to order a bottle of later, along with a small bottle of the American Cream conditioner to try. I finally made a trip to the Charlotte Lush store about a week after the shipment of Rehab and American Cream came, so I included those in this haul as well!
Rehab Shampoo // Rehab is described as a restorative shampoo that helps bring hair back to good health. I really enjoy the way that Rehab feels on my hair and scalp. Admittedly, my scalp issues require more help than what Rehab can provide but that’s where my hair treatments come in. One of the reasons I made the trip out to my local Lush store was to pick up a bigger bottle of Rehab since I do like it so much, but they were completely out 🙁
American Cream Conditioner // I purchased this small bottle of American Cream mainly because I needed a conditioner, I wanted to try one of Lush’s, and I knew that Rachel from Glow of Grace had loved this particular one. However, after using it a couple times, I just can’t get on board with it. It smells great, I’ll give it that, but it’s just not right for my hair and made it a little frizzier than normal.
Jungle Solid Conditioner // Alright from here to the end are the products that I picked up most recently at the Charlotte Lush store so I haven’t had a chance to give these a fair go just yet. But this is Jungle, and it is a solid conditioner that actually doubles as a hair conditioner and shaving cream for your legs, so that’s kind of awesome. Jungle is described being able to tame all hair types which seems kind of fitting for me since my hair can tend to look like a jungle sometimes. I mainly picked this up since they were completely out of Retread, another conditioner that I’ve read is great for thick hair and when paired with Rehab. I can’t wait to try this out! If all else fails and it’s not a great match for my hair type, then hey, I’ve got a shaving cream out of it 🙂
Superbalm Scalp Treatment // Okay, so this was one of the main reasons why I made the trek over to Lush. After reading tons of reviews and watching several videos, I knew I had to give this scalp treatment a shot. It sounds like it might be the answer to my scalp’s prayers, so I can’t wait to dive in and try it out. Fingers crossed!
Curly Wurly Shampoo (sample) // While at Lush, I picked up a sample of their Curly Wurly shampoo (and they gave me two!). I love that the stores will fix you a sample of pretty much all of their products. Perfect for a Lush newbie like me to try out a variety of products in order to find the perfect fit. Curly Wurly is primarily for, you guessed it, curly hair. While I don’t love the smell of this shampoo, it actually has small chunks of actual coconut in it, which is kind of cool. Looking forward to trying it out!
