It happens around this time every year. The weather gradually begins to grow warmer, days start to get longer, and before we know it, we are yearning for those lazy, hazy summer days. For me, this is the time of year when I begin to shake off the figurative dust from being cooped up inside during the frigid winter months and get my behind to the great outdoors.
One of my favorite ways to get outside and enjoy the renewal that Spring brings is to go for walks with my family. More often than not, these walks turn into jogs or even a quick race between my Dad and I. Getting out into the sunshine always seems to recharge and renew my spirit in its own unique way. My family likes to take our walks around the campus of a local, private Catholic college down the road and it is beautiful all-year, but especially in the Spring.
It’s nearly impossible for me to go for a walk or run without music that fuels my body and my spirit at the same time. As someone who was in marching band for four years, my music has to be up-tempo because my body naturally seems to move at whatever pace the song has. Lately, I’ve been loving the practice of incorporating some faster worship songs into my running playlist. It has been so amazing for my motivation and overall mood!
One of the other things I love are comfortable clothes. Some days, I just live in these clothes regardless of whether or not I actually make it out for a run. If I don’t feel comfortable and free in my clothes, I’m never going to feel like actually doing anything.
